How do you price a move, and is the price really flat?
We price off a real walkthrough or video tour, then put a flat written number in front of you before anything moves. Local jobs run $148/hr for a two-mover crew and truck, or $202/hr for three movers, and we also offer flat bands by home size — for example a one-bedroom runs $650 to $970 and a three-bedroom $1,790 to $2,640. Blankets, dollies, and tools are already included. The total you sign is the total you pay.
What does the $135 deposit cover?
It locks your date on our calendar, and it comes straight off your final bill — it is not an extra fee. Reserve early, especially in the summer beach season, because our crews book up fast around Ocean City and the university move dates.
What is already included in the price?
Your crew, the truck, fuel, and the gear: moving blankets, dollies, hand trucks, straps, and basic tools to break down and reassemble beds and tables. We do not nickel-and-dime those as add-ons. The only extras are things you ask for, like packing materials or full-value coverage, and we tell you that cost up front.
Can you pack for me too?
Yes. We offer full packing, where we box the whole house with our own materials, or partial packing for just the kitchen, the fragile pieces, or whatever you would rather not handle. Plenty of customers have us pack the day before and load the next morning so the move runs faster.
On a long-distance move, does the same crew go the whole way?
Yes — that is the point of how we work. The Salisbury crew that wraps and loads your home drives the truck and unloads it at the destination. There is no van-line handoff and no transfer warehouse where your things sit with strangers. One crew, one truck, door to door.
How is my furniture protected if something gets damaged?
Every move includes released-value protection at sixty cents per pound, the standard basic coverage for licensed movers. If you want repair-or-replacement coverage, we offer optional full-value protection — just ask before your move date. We also carry up to a million dollars in cargo coverage per shipment.
Are you properly licensed to do this?
We are. Always Moving holds US DOT and MC authority for interstate moves and Maryland intrastate operating authority for moves within the state, registered under our USDOT number and fully bonded and insured. That also lets us legally cross into Delaware and Virginia.
Are you a broker or one of those matching services?
No, and that distinction matters. We are the moving company — our own six trucks, our own eleven uniformed W-2 movers. We do not match you with outside carriers, route your job to a third party, or run a marketplace. When you book Always Moving, our crew shows up and does the work.
What happens if a storm or hurricane is in the forecast on my move date?
Living on the coast, we watch the marine forecast year-round and plan around nor'easters and the occasional hurricane brushing Delmarva. If serious weather lines up with your date, we will talk it through and stage or shift the move to keep your goods and our crew safe, with no penalty to you for a weather call.
Can you handle a last-minute booking or a change to my date?
Often, yes — call us and we will check the schedule. We ask for at least 48 hours' notice to reschedule so your deposit carries to the new date. Even in peak season we keep some flexibility for the moves that come together quickly.
Do you move pianos and other heavy specialty items?
We do. Uprights, baby grands, gun safes, large gym equipment, and the awkward heavy pieces get the right gear and an experienced crew. Specialty handling starts at $365, and we will fold it into your written quote so there are no surprises.
Do you offer storage if my new place isn't ready?
When timing gets tight — a closing slips, a beach condo isn't ready — we can arrange short-term storage and a second delivery once you have the keys. Mention it when you book so we can plan the truck and crew around it and quote it in writing.
Can you move a second-floor condo or bayfront place in Ocean City?
All the time. We handle Ocean City beach condos with reserved elevator windows and building COIs, bayfront homes with docks and soft yards, and the historic places in Berlin and downtown Salisbury with narrow stairs. Tell us the building and parking situation up front and we'll plan the crew and timing around it, beach traffic included.
How far ahead should I book my move?
Two to four weeks is comfortable, and a month or more is smart for summer dates, beginning- or end-of-month moves, and the Salisbury University rush. We do take shorter-notice jobs when the calendar allows, but the earlier you lock your date with the deposit, the better your odds of the time slot you want.
